Classical Composition I: Fables
Suggested Grades: 4th-6th grade
This is the first course in classical composition (progymnasmata). This is a method of teaching writing that has been used for centuries until just recently.

In Classical Composition I: Fables, the children will learn how to write by learning from ancient fables (side note: this ties in nicely with our SOTW 1 Ancient History class as the Fables are mainly from Aesop).
A good deal of the work is done in class but there will be lessons to do on the remaining days of the week. We provide videos that the children can watch for the more difficult home lessons.
We work spend two weeks on each lesson and at the end of each lesson the children read their final re-writes in class which also helps them become more comfortable with oral presentations and speaking.
